Purchased in April 1947 by the Trustees of the Resort, funding for the erection of the Port Edward Holiday Resort was collected from policemen during World War II. During the war, a number of policemen were captured by the enemy in North Africa. In 1948 the resort housed its first holidaymakers in tents. As the resort was strictly for members and retired members of the Police, 1994 opened the door to a perfect holiday for serving and non serving members. There from the name change from Port Edward Police Camp to Port Edward Holiday Resort
