Riverbend Chalets and Campsite comprises a hilly property of 5.6 Ha situated on the banks of the Umtentweni River, South Coast, KwaZulu – Natal, South Africa.

We offer a choice of comfortable self catering accommodation in our 4 houses. Each unit/house is set in its own fully fenced and secure garden with its own entrance to ensure that you may enjoy your time with us in peace and privacy.

Our secluded Campsite is situated in a beautiful open flat area along the riverbank.

We cater for holidaymakers and travellers who require central but tranquil surroundings set in beautiful indigenous bush with abundant birdlife.

We are close to all amenities including Shelly Centre (large shopping mall) and Margate (premier holiday resort town). There is a laundromat nearby in Port Shepstone (nearest business centre), Sporting facilities which include an 18 hole golf course, tennis and squash courts and bowls, may be found at the Port Sheptone Country Club (which is also part of Umtentweni).

There are several popular restaurants and pubs nearby. A supaquick Spar superette opens 777 in the immediate neighbourhood.

Our main swimming beaches are situated at Umtentweni, Sea Park and Port Shepstone and we are 2kms from the sea by road. You may walk your dogs on a number of beaches nearby.

The property borders on the Umtentweni river and is unspoilt. When the river mouth is closed you can paddle to the sea in one of our available for hire canoes.

You will invariably awake to the sound of the African Fish Eagle’s ringing call. A pair have nested across the river for since 1990. You may see various types of small wildlife including vervet monkeys, blue and grey duiker, tree dassies, porcupine, genet cats and leguvaans.
